BETTER LIFE COUNSELING
Life can be better
Professional Description

Life can be better. You may be experiencing a situation that is hard to deal with, an accumulation of problems and concerns that can feel overwhelming. You may be trying to come out of a sadness that won't go away or aggravating feelings of anxiety. What you have done before has worked part of the time but has not been as successful as you would like. I can conjecture about what you have experienced, and what you are going through, but I need to hear it from you. I honor who you are and I want to hear your story, what you are feeling, and what you would like to have happen.

Life is a process. We experience a progression of jobs, relationships and events that effect who we are. Knowing who we are now helps us live in the present and look forward to our future. You can become a person who experiences contentment, happiness, even joy; a person who doesn't have to be afraid of sadness and fear and anger. Those feelings will be reduced to a less important part of your life.

Through a lifetime of study and fourteen years of practice as a counselor, I have incorporated into my practice a range of interventions that have been effective in helping clients in their work to face the world and get on with life in a positive, empowered way. We will collaborate to develop your personal treatment plan that may involve utilizing various tools such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy techniques. We will build on your strengths and we will identify activities that you can use to heal and grow. We will explore what motivates you, what is important to you and work from there.

I am an Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I hold a Washington Mental Health Counselor license (LMHC). I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I am also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); I can help you integrate issues related to disabilities with a healthy and productive life style. All of these endorsements require specialized training, testing, and continuing education. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Portland State University.

My fee is $65 per 50 minute session for individual counseling, and can be adjusted according to financial need. Longer sessions can be negotiated. I offer no-cost initial consultations.
